Successful outcomes of international EBEAM program led by AMOLF
The EU Pathfinder project Electron Beams Enhancing Analytical Microscopy (EBEAM) that was recently completed has received a highly positive review of the European Innovation Council (EIC). EBEAM brought together eight European research institutions and companies, including AMOLF, that develop new concepts and instruments combining spectroscopic analysis with electron microscopy.
Sharp view of the smallest structures
NWO announced that twelve consortia can start research projects through the Perspectief program. A crucial factor in these projects is their societal and economic impact. One of these projects is the CHAIN consortium, with AMOLF group leader Femius Koenderink as co-applicant. In this consortium, researchers join forces to advance the semiconductor industry. The budget will support six junior researchers in total, including one at AMOLF in the Resonant Nanophotonics group.
AMOLF-ARCNL PhD collaboration brings to light new nanostructure metrology technique
The joint PhD program between AMOLF and ARCNL continues to prove its strength in combining fundamental physics with industrial relevance. Falco Bijloo’s research, recently published in ACS Nano, showcases the power of this partnership. This December, two such joint AMOLF-ARCNL PhD candidates will both defend their PhD theses on the same day, highlighting the close-knit collaboration between the two institutes and the fertile research environment it creates for young scientists.
Future Optical Broadband Systems program funds research in optical sensing technologies
As co-applicant, AMOLF group leader Ewold Verhagen receives funding from the NWO program Future Optical Broadband Systems to break the existing technological and economic barriers in the application of optical sensing technologies in industrial systems. Andrea Fiore from TU Eindhoven leads the project called BroadSense. A total amount of 923.000 euros is available for the project, from NWO and industrial co-funders.
AMOLF, CWI, and DIFFER launch HELIOS project with NWO-I funding
An AMOLF collaboration with CWI and DIFFER has received funding from NWO-I to launch a joint project: HELIOS: AI-guided materials discovery facility for solar energy materials. On Friday, May 23rd, representatives from the three institutes gathered for the kick-off meeting to discuss the roadmap toward developing a highly efficient multilayered halide perovskite solar cell.
NWO ENW-XL grant awarded to consortium studying how embryos tell time
A research consortium led by AMOLF group leader Jeroen van Zon has been awarded an NWO ENW-XL grant to combine efforts and elevate curiosity-driven research to the next level. A total of 2.7 million euros has been granted for the project “How developing embryos use noisy clocks to tell time with high precision.”
AMOLF and Delft University of Technology join forces to develop revolutionary microscopy technology
A joint research project between AMOLF, Delft University of Technology, Delmic and Technolution has received funding from the National Growth Fund program ‘NXTGEN Hightech.’ This project, which aims to push the boundaries of microscopy technology, is poised to create innovative tools for semiconductor and life sciences applications. We spoke with group leader Albert Polman and researcher Magda Solà Garcia of AMOLF’s Photonic Materials group, to learn more about this groundbreaking endeavor.
From fundamental solar cell research to production of solar panels: SolarNL project receives 412 million to realize its plans in the Netherlands
The Dutch government invests 312 million euro, plus a loan of 100 million euro, in a national program for large-scale production of solar cells and solar panels in the Netherlands. This was announced by Rianne Letschert, chair of the Advice Committee of the Dutch National Growth Fund, during a press conference on Friday, June 30th. AMOLF participates in SolarNL with research on new solar cell materials and technologies. Also, the SolarNL program office will be located at AMOLF.
