About AMOLF

AMOLF launches new website

On October 1, AMOLF launches a completely redesigned website. The new website puts AMOLF’s research and people center stage and makes it easier for different audiences to find the information they are looking for.

After ten years, the previous AMOLF website was due for replacement. Its structure and navigation no longer sufficiently reflected the needs of visitors, information could sometimes be difficult to find, and the website no longer met our ambitions for accessibility, maintainability, and visual presentation.

The development of the new website started from an important principle: our website should reflect the same level of quality and professionalism as our research. From there, we asked a fundamental question: what are our visitors looking for?

Designed around our visitors

The new website has been designed around the needs of AMOLF’s different audiences. Clear navigation, search, responsive design, and improved accessibility make information easier to find and the website easier to use.

The content is layered for different levels of scientific knowledge. The homepage, About us and Careers provide an accessible introduction to AMOLF, while other landing pages offer more detail. On our research pages, specialists can find more technical information aimed at peers in their research area.

Bringing AMOLF’s research and people to the forefront

The redesigned research group pages provide a consistent overview of each group’s research, people, news, and publications, complemented by photos that give an impression of the people and working environment at AMOLF.

News and recent publications are dynamically integrated throughout the website, vacancies can be filtered, and the new content management system makes the website easier to maintain and update.

An online presence that reflects AMOLF

“For many people, our website is one of their first encounters with AMOLF,” says Rob Meijers, Head of Communications. “When talented students and scientists consider AMOLF as a place to work, or organizations explore us as a potential partner, they will typically visit our website. What they find there should strengthen their confidence in AMOLF as an organization they want to work for or collaborate with.

As a world-leading research institute, we want to attract world-class scientists, students, and partners. Our online presence should reinforce this ambition and showcase the quality of our research, our people, and our organization. This new website is a major step forward in doing exactly that and in helping visitors find what they are looking for.”
