Core research
Our Disciplinary Centers
Disciplinary Centers are dedicated hubs for training and scientific exchange. They are designed to foster the development of expertise, train researchers, and stimulate scientific interaction and collaboration. These centers focus on specific areas of expertise, whereas the research themes cover broader research domains.
Center for LMPV
The Center for LMPV is a dedicated hub for training and scientific exchange in the field of Light Management in new Photovoltaic Materials (LMPV). It is designed to foster the development of expertise, train researchers, and stimulate scientific interaction and collaboration within the LMPV community.
Center for Chemistry and Spectroscopy
The Center for Chemistry and Spectroscopy develops and applies a wide range of physical and chemical techniques to synthesize and characterize complex functional matter.
Center for Living Systems
The Center for Living Systems uses physics based experimental, theoretical and computational approaches to study living systems across scales, combining advanced microscopy, microfluidics, biochemical reconstitutions and quantitative modeling to reveal principles of biological organization and dynamics.
Center for Modern Mechanics
The Center for Modern Mechanics leverages geometry, vibrations and nonlinearities to probe and design (meta)materials and mechanical systems that reconfigure, sense, and process information.
Center for Nanophotonics
The Center for Nanophotonics explores new physical phenomena and functionalities emerging from the interaction between light and nanoscale matter. By designing advanced materials and optical systems and developing cutting edge measurement techniques, we seek control over light and various material excitations to address challenges in energy, information processing and sensing.
