Albert Polman appointed Fellow of the Materials Research Society

AMOLF Director and group leader Albert Polman has been appointed Fellow of the Materials Research Society (MRS) "in recognition of pioneering studies in nano-photonics: the control, understanding, and application of light at the nanoscale.

MRS Fellows are appointed "for their distinguished research accomplishments and their outstanding contributions to the advancement of materials research worldwide".

MRS is the leading organization of scientists worldwide in the field of "materials science". MRS has over 15,000 members from over 80 countries. MRS organizes two major annual conferences that brings together researchers in the field of materials research in all disciplines (physics, chemistry, biology). Polman was awarded the Fellowship awarded at a special ceremony at the MRS Spring Meeting in San Francisco on Wednesday, April 7.

The MRS Fellowship is an exclusive appointment. MRS has only 97 Fellows. Polman is the first Dutch MRS Fellow.
