Research / Job description
The central aim of the NanoOptics Group is to explore the natural frontiers of light control at length scales of the wavelength or below, and time scale in the fs regime. To this end we use nanostructures like photonic crystals and periodic arrays of subwavelength holes. One of the key interests is slow light, which actually enhances light-matter interaction. We have projects available on the fabrication of the nanostructures used to manipulate the light, and projects on the measuring and visualization of this manipulation.

About the group Nano optics

Required qualifications
You have a Bachelors-degree in physics or electrical engineering and participate in a Master in physics, nanotechnology, nanoscience or micromechanics. You have a nationality of an EU-member state or if not, you are a student at a Netherlands University. You must be available for at least 3 months.

Terms of employment
In the beginning of your placement, along with your supervisor at AMOLF, you will make a step-by-step plan in which working conditions and supervision will be agreed on. If the training period is to last longer than two months, an agreement will also be established in which things like compensation will be fixed.
