Scientific career Mirjam Leunissen
Extended Curriculum Vitae and pre-AMOLF publications
I studied chemistry at the Radboud University Nijmegen (main subjects solid state chemistry and biochemistry) and obtained my PhD degree in physics in the Soft Condensed Matter group at Utrecht University in 2007. I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Soft Matter Research (New York University, experiment) and at the University of Cambridge (UK) & AMOLF (numerical simulation). Since the beginning of 2011, I lead the 'Supramolecular Interactions' research group at AMOLF.
My scientific interests include (directed) self-assembly, specific recognition & adhesion and entropic effects in soft matter, bio-inspired systems and micro/nano-particular materials, as well as DNA nanotechnology and supramolecular chemistry & physics.
Other professional interests are science communication for the general public, outreach to schools, and the role of science in society.
