See for updates AMOLF Invention Contest

Final Round: Tuesday March 16: 15.30h, be there!

Welcome!

This year AMOLF will host an Invention Contest! Make sure you write down the last day of the contest: March 16, 2010.

On this day we will see a presentation of AMOLF's best ideas, judged by a professional jury, leading to a great prize for the winning team! The key words for this contest are: unexpected interactions, think different together, professional guidance, ...

On this website you will find all the information you need concerning the contest. All scientific and technical support staff is strongly encouraged to participate in the contest. We hope to see as many contestants as possible!

Why?

Valorisation of our knowledge has become part of AMOLF's mission. Besides our many research collaborations with industry, we seek ways to transfer the abundant presence of cleverness and creativity at AMOLF into innovative ideas with economic value and/or societal relevance.

In the past years, we asked everybody to send in innovative ideas via invention disclosures. Many ideas were sent in, showing that AMOLF employees do have a large number of great ideas. These ideas were reviewed by a committee from AMOLF and Philips for possible business applications and many ideas were rewarded with a financial bonus.

We think it's time to change this formula. To come up with a viable, innovative idea all by yourself might not be so easy. Therefore we offer you the Invention Contest: a different approach that enables you to join forces with your colleagues, leading to more ideas and as importantly more interaction within our institute.

The move to the new building has changed the location of people throughout the lab. Employees of different groups are mixed more within the building. This might enhance the interaction between scientific groups, but also will create a more uniform AMOLF atmosphere.

In this Invention Contest, employees from different groups will form teams. This way knowledge, skills and ideas of people with different backgrounds are shared within a single team. This will make the contest more interactive, fun and will, hopefully, lead to stronger, better and more creative ideas.
